Tutor Specialist in Learning Disabilities Special EducationDirector and Co-Founder, Shannon Converse, Ed.M.
Specialist in Learning Disabilities Special Education

Shannon brings with her an impressive background in the education field. A specialist in the education of students with multiple and severe disabilities, Shannon currently teaches for the Darien Public Schools in the Therapeutic Learning Center (TLC) at Ox Ridge Elementary. She also taught for several years at the Westchester School for Special Children in New York. Shannon has worked with children who have a wide variety of disabling conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and general developmental delays. She has created original and innovative curricula for these students, and is adept at the design and implementation of behavioral intervention plans, in addition to other performance-based assessments. Shannon especially enjoys the teaching of reading and writing to her students with learning disabilities, and has designed a multi-sensory reading program for special education students who are non-verbal.

Prior to teaching in Darien, Shannon taught in the Ridgefield (Connecticut) Public Schools where she headed her school's Learning Center. There, she implemented a modified reading and writing curriculum to students who have language-based learning disabilities, performed educational evaluations, and assisted teachers with the inclusion of special needs students into the mainstream classroom.

Although she continues to treasure the experience of working directly with her students, it is important for Shannon to provide guidance and leadership to parents and others in the field of special education. To that end, she has been speaker at various workshops and seminars including the Connecticut Association for Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities (CACLD), Bank Street College of Education, staff development sessions in Ridgefield and Westchester, among others. She has also provided special consultation and advocacy services (as time permits) to clients of My Tutor and Me.

Shannon holds Masters and post-Masters degrees in Special Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City plus a B.S. in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at Oswego. She is state certified in both New York and Connecticut in Elementary and Special Education. Shannon is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children and, through My Tutor and Me, the Connecticut Association for Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities, the Education Industry Association and the Better Business Bureau of Connecticut.

Accounting Manager, Diana Santulli, B.A.My Tutor and Me Office Manager

My Tutor and Me is very fortunate that Diana accepted our offer to join us as Accounting Manager. Diana's academic achievements; exceptional interpersonal skills; and ability to digest and articulate often complex issues and descriptions from parents, offers solace to those who demand the highest quality support and caring attention from their tutorial service and private tutors.

Diana is currently completing her Masters in Teaching and Elementary Education certification at Sacred Heart University. She graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor degree in Human Development and Family Studies, and was conferred the 2009 Departmental Award for Academic Excellence. Diana earlier received an Associates Degree in Business Technology. She is an active member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the Golden Key International Honor Society.

Much of Diana's personal and professional development was cultivated and honed over a ten-year span in corporate environments, in children's educational and camp settings, and in community service (including the Appalachia Habitat for Humanity in Tennessee). Other valuable cultural life experiences include travels to many parts of Asia, Europe and South America, as well as Australia and New Zealand.

Diana is highly motivated and is always looking for new challenges that help her improve and build skills, both professionally and personally. She has always had a passion for teaching and learning, and enjoys seeing children attain that same enthusiasm. Diana is especially excited to achieve her goal of becoming an elementary school teacher, and giving back to the community that has provided her with so many opportunities.

When Diana isn't in class or the office at My Tutor and Me, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, skiing, boating, fishing and cooking.
