Instructor Biographies


Admission Essays/English

Rick earned his PhD in classics and philosophy from Princeton University. He also holds an honors BA from the University of Toronto where he won the Governor General’s Medal for the best degree in any field of study. His teaching experience ranges from five years as a professor at the University of Texas to over a decade as a private tutor. Rick specializes in english literature and composition, latin, and the LSAT. He is also a coach for private school, college and grad school admission essays.


College Math

Michael holds a B.S. degree in mathematics from MIT as well as a PhD in mathematics from NYU. Currently, Michael is a mathematics instructor at Brooklyn College and an adjunct instructor of mathematics at the University of Bridgeport. Previously, Michael worked as a fixed income analyst for Bloomberg, Merrill Lynch and Deutsche Bank. His experience also includes teaching bond math and elementary options theory at Merrill Lynch, and discrete math and calculus at NYU.


Science, Math and Econ

Jonathan is a graduate of the University of Chicago where he studied economics and biological science. Jonathan has over a decade of experience tutoring high school and college students in math, science and economics. Additionally, Jonathan is a top one percent scorer on the MCAT exam and tutors college students preparing for medical school and science graduate programs. In addition to the MCAT, Jonathan is an instructor for the AP math and science exams as well as the SAT and ACT exams.


Humanities and ESL

Jyoti is a graduate of NYU Law School and holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Delhi in India. For over ten years, Jyoti worked in the Pupil Services Division of the Westport, CT public school system and taught ESL at Norwalk Community College. Previously, Jyoti worked at the University of Bridgeport as a learning specialist and also at Sacred Heart University in their Intensive English Program. Currently, Jyoti teaches ESL and math at Austin Community College in Texas.


Admission Essays/Writing

Drew graduated cum laude with honors from Yale University where he was awarded the Saybrook Fellows Prize and has a master’s degree in teaching from Sacred Heart University. Areas of expertise include humanities, writing and higher order critical thinking. Drew is an award-winning professional writer with many credits as a playwright, screenwriter, and published author, as well as an actor and director. Drew is a member of the Writers Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Theatre Artists Workshop. He lives in Fairfield County with his wife and children.


Standardized Test Prep

Carl graduated cum laude from Harvard University and also holds an MBA from Harvard University. Carl has worked with My Tutor and Me since 2006, and teaches the SAT, ACT and GRE as well as helps students in academic courses from math through calculus. As a Lecturer in Management at Baruch College, Carl was awarded the 2003 Teaching Excellence Award. It was during this time that he started to develop his own proprietary SAT product that Carl uses with students. Carl has been an adjunct professor at New York University and Colorado Technical University.
